Reader's Theater

The kids really loved acting out Goldilocks and the Three Bears during the end of our second Reader's workshop unit.

Second IB unit

Our second IB Transdisciplinary unit is Who We Are and in late October we began our inquiry into community helpers.  This is a fun unit for the kids as we try to bring in community visitors for presentations.

Our Visual Impairments Consult who services one of my students introduced Braille to the class, they loved every minute of it.

We love the firemen and trucks visiting us every year.

A local librarian came to talk to us.
We also had a visit from our favorite dental hygenist, but the all time favorite visit was from one of our dads who not only is an Oakland County Sheriff but a crime scene investigator.  We so loved getting our fingerprints done.

On to Halloween

I really have taken lots of pictures this year of my kinders, they are fun group to photograph and who doesn't love pictures of all the fun Halloween costumes.

Reader's Workshop

We finished our firs unit of reader's workshop and have worked really hard to develop our stamina for reading and also began partner sharing which is so much fun.

Completing our First IB unit

During the month of October we finished up our first International Baccalaurette (IB) unit shortly after we had our authorization visit.  Our first transdisciplinary unit was How We Express Ourselves and we spent about six weeks learning and inquiring about our senses and how they help us discover the world. Each student presented their summative assessments to the class using our smart boards, doc cameras and microphones in our classroom. On a happy note our school became an official IB World School just before Christmas. It was nice to see all of our hard work pay off.
